How to Order

Over the years, Turner has made over forty of these benches (Curly Maple and Cherry legs shown left, White Oak and Ebony shown right), and they live coast to coast. He named them hearth benches because they seemed a natural for sitting in front of the fireplace on a cold evening. They serve as seating, or double as a home for the evening's finger food. In an urban setting, they are space conservative. A 22" version lives in a Manhattan penthouse.

Typically each has a top plank of figured 8/4 wood with contrasting legs. The legs are through tenoned. Hearth benches are not for the faint of heart; they will easily handle your largest friends. From 20" to 48" in length; approximately 9" in width; sized to suit the client's needs or to accommodate the available wood. All leg tenons are through the seat, and wedged, usually with a contrasting wood.
