How to Order

One of P. Morrow’s favorite things is carving textures in furniture. That’s where the idea for this cactus table started. Morrow had carved a random grooved texture on a couple of pieces and wanted to try something with very deep grooves. The idea transformed into this table that connotes the Saguaro plant. The wood choice, catalpa, was the perfect ‘look’ plus the perfect color and grain for the client’s cowgirl themed bedroom.

The legs are hand carved. Morrow used a power carver to get the deep groove and shaped from there with traditional gouges. The gouges were the best choice of tool because the wood splinters easily. The top is two tiered with a hand carved detail that finishes the entire piece. The apron and bottom are painted with milk paint, sealed with polyurethane and then waxed to give it a creamy smooth feel. The top is sized so the 45 degree legs peer out from the corners. Because of the overhang in the front, the drawer is placed lower on the apron so it feels natural to grab the handle.

Made from Catalpa and Maple with a Tung Oil Varnish, milk paint, and polyurethane finish.
